A few days ago, I happened upon a trail marker that had fallen over. To leave it or fix it?
David and I decided to fix it and set about sitting it upright, then piling stones to keep it situated. Hmm, we laughed with worry…

Which way was north and which way was south? We looked at each other with concern.
Then, we both looked at the sun in the sky - it was high and not revealing an answer.
Next, we looked at a mountain in the distance and pondered.
We considered how the way the marker had fallen. Which side was up?
We tried to look at the compass on the i-phone, but it didn’t seem to be working.
With trepidation in our heart, we left it - hoping it was right.
Upon greeting the next trail marker, we sighed deeply with relief… happy that YES! we had put the marker back properly. (If it was wrong, we would have doubled back to fix it :)
Watching the avalanche - flood - tsunami - hurricane of news these past few days (even while trying to avoid it), I notice how easy it is to lose direction.
As someone with Affordable Health Care Insurance and nearing the age of switching to Medicare, it’s personally concerning. Also, events that are happening now are concerning for many, many others too.
It’s easy to lose direction.
Last night, I doodled Wanda and Beefy ~ as I’m prone to do when life gets hard. The message that came felt helpful. I hope it might help you too.
And, this morning I remember > what direction do I want to head and what will help me get there?
Whether I reach my destination(s) or not, I can make the most of each moment of each day. Who knows what the future holds?
In the morning quiet, I felt led to create this little list > for us. Let me know if it might help you and what you want to add? I’ll add what you suggest and keep sharing weekly updates in the future - new editions :)
Take care and may this “Independence Day” lead you to more freedom within yourself.
Big hugs, Amy xoxo
Wanda Petunia Inner World Peace List
It’s definitely time to bring back Wanda’s message of self-love and sharing love… so here we go:
Brush and floss your teeth every day
If there’s a bad habit you have that can hurt your physical health, now is the time to end it
Morning pages or a regular journaling practice
Movement - hiking, walking, yoga, gigong, dance
Find comfort in a nice blanket, rocking chair, cup of tea
Stay connected to friends
Enjoy each day
Instead of worrying about the future, decide if there is an action you can take to make your life better and put effort in that direction
Pick at least one or two causes that you will focus on for the next year - taking action as a volunteer, donating money, publicizing
Practice what is loving to yourself
Practice what is loving to others
Decide why you are on social media and what it’s doing for you - take charge of what you want to get out of it
Plan a trip to somewhere you really want to go
Smile at yourself and others
Keep a healthy perspective - lessening drama and participating in hope
Believe that you are good enough right now - no matter what messages you’ve ever received otherwise
Plant a garden
Learn a “hobby” you can get lost in
Read books and watch movies that uplift and inspire you
Do something that is meaningful and healing to your inner child
Look for beauty every day
Join as many Wanda Petunia experiences as you can - book group, writer’s group, etc
I love the drawing and the list Amy, thank you for your wisdom <3
